Nissan Expects EV Charge Time to be 10 Minutes by 2021

If you've been paying attention to Nissan news lately, you know the Japanese automaker debuted an all-new quick charger, in September. Boasting 500V (20V more than the last generation) it's currently slated to hit select Japanese markets, next month. If you're expecting it to be faster than the 480V variant, which offers a 30-minute, 80-percent charge time, you'll be very pleased.
You'll also be happy to know, Nissan isn't planning to take a break from pioneering the EV segment. Proving they're not one to take their foot off the gas pedal, on the road toward a more convenient EV product suite, they're already working on creating faster quick-charging technology...The new quick-charger hasn't even hit select launch markets yet, for goodness sake.
Not that we're complaining; Dick Scott Nissan is outright thrilled at the prospect of a 10-minute charge time. We imagine drivers are, too. What about you? Are you excited? Would you be more inclined to adopt the EV lifestyle with a charge time of only 10 minutes? We invite you to leave us a comment to let us know.
If you're disappointed at the 10-year ETA for Nissan's new 10-minute quick-charging technology, remember that's just the projection made by industry insiders. While they surely know better than the rest of us, the technology could very well make its way to the commercial level in a shorter period of time. We'll certainly be keeping our fingers crossed.
