Nissan Invests $2 Billion in Mexico

With the rising value of the Japanese yen, Nissan continues to move its vehicle production outside of its home country and into more lucrative markets. Nissan is already the biggest Asian automaker in Mexico, but now the company will add another $2 billion plant, the third of its kind, to its arsenal in the North American country. When the new Aguascalientes plant opens, Nissan plans to produce nearly one million vehicles in Mexico.

2012 Detroit Auto Show Report: the New Nissan Electric Van

Nissan Hosts 1st Energy and Sustainability Summit

Nissan certainly seems to be staying ahead of the game, at least as far as energy- saving initiatives and sustainability are concerned. The automaker's American branch recently hosted the first-ever Energy and Sustainability Summit in Franklin, Tennessee from December 13th-15th 2011. Whether it was the company's desire to stand behind energy-efficient vehicle offerings like the Nissan Leaf or its goal of positioning itself against energy risks and supporting the bottom line, we at Dick Scott Nissan are proud of the company's aims to be more sustainable- and to inspire others to do so as well.

Nissan to Showcase Two Concept Vehicles at 2012 Detroit Auto Show

We at Dick Scott Nissan may not be making it to the 2012 North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) in Detroit next month,  so we decided to do some digging about what Nissan has in store for the exhibition and to share that information with our readers. The automaker's major contribution will be the unveiling of two brand-new concepts: a new take on the Nissan Pathfinder and an all-new electric van concept.

Nissan Unveils the JUKE Nismo Concept


Nissan has decided to tease the auto industry by unveiling the new JUKE Nismo Concept earlier than any of us expected. They didn't tell all. That would leave many Tokyo Motor Show attendees more than a little disappointed. They did, however, share enough to satisfy Canton - area drivers' curiosity until Dick Scott Nissan can officially offer news on what the innovative crossover is packing under the hood.


By teaming up with their performance arm, Nismo, Nissan has essentially transformed the stand-out JUKE from ultra-modern, fun-driving CUV into high-performance, stealth CUV that just begs to do a couple of laps…

Nissan and SunPower Plan for the Future


The future Nissan Leaf will gain Sun Power. The Japanese auto maker, supplying EV and hybrid vehicles to Dick Scott Nissan in 42175 Michigan Avenue, Canton MI, 48188, has joined forced with SunPower.

 

SunPower Corp. wants Nissan Leaf owners to benefits by having their residential solar power system attached to homes, allowing those who own EV's to recharge their vehicles AND power home appliances with solar energy.

 

SunPower's systems keep charging costs down for EV drivers, and can cut carbon emissions by using sunlight, the renewable energy for homes, instead of electricity produced in traditional ways. Educational materials…

Nissan Plug-In Hybrid News


The all-electric Nissan Leaf EV is available in the U.S. but Nissan plans on releasing a plug-in hybrid by 2016.  This is part of the "Nissan Green Program 2016" or NGP 2016. The goal of this program is to reduce the company's carbon footprint, as well as shift to renewable energy.

 

"Nissan wants to be part of the solution toward a sustainable society - for the sake of the planet and as a significant competitive advantage and a strategic differentiator in the global manufacturing sector," said Nissan President Carlos Ghosn.1

Nissan Expects EV Charge Time to be 10 Minutes by 2021


If you've been paying attention to Nissan news lately, you know the Japanese automaker debuted an all-new quick charger, in September. Boasting 500V (20V more than the last generation) it's currently slated to hit select Japanese markets, next month. If you're expecting it to be faster than the 480V variant, which offers a 30-minute, 80-percent charge time, you'll be very pleased.

A Look at a Futuristic Concept


Have you ever wanted to control your car with your mind?  Well, in the near future that might be a real possibility. Soon, vehicles like the Nissan Altima may be able to read your mind.

 

Nissan has joined forces with École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) in Switzerland to research "Brain Machine Interface" (BMI) concepts. The idea allows disabled people to maneuver wheelchairs by thought transference. Nissan hopes to convert this project for use in cars, so that disabled drivers (and able bodied ones) can drive telepathically.

Nissan North America has invited the 16 fastest Gran Turismo 5 gamers to take part in their new reality TV show hosted in conjunction with Sony Computer Entertainment America LLC.
